I apologize for not getting back to those of you who have e-mailed me. As everyone can appreciate, I don't devote as much time as I would like to genealogy and this web site. Hopefully, in 2005 I'll be able to do more.

I was delighted to get this photo of W. W, Dowd recently. Willis Wedworth was the author of the 1885 genealogy of the Douds. ( The Descendants of Henry Doude Who Came from England in 1639 ) He was also my Great Grandfather.

Old Willis did a remarkable job in his day, before public records were readily available. He did make a lot of mistakes in his genealogy book, however. In that respect, I want to make sure I don't emulate him.
